How to Say “I had a really good time today” in Korean

오늘 정말 즐거웠어요

oneul jeongmal jeulgeowosseoyo

Situation: Greetings & basicsLevel: Intermediate (TOPIK 3–4)

Meaning

I had a really good time today.

Usage note

A warm thing to say when parting. The past form -았/었어요 looks back on the time together. 즐겁다 is a ㅂ-irregular verb, hence 즐거웠어요.

Romanization follows the Revised Romanization system and is a guide to pronunciation.

Practical guide

When to use it

Say it at the end of an outing, a meal or a meeting. The past tense is natural because the fun is now over; 다음에 또 만나요 is a nice follow-up.

Watch out

Don’t say 즐거워요, which sounds like you are still in the middle of it. After dinner with a boss, 정말 즐거웠습니다 is more formal, and friends say 오늘 진짜 재밌었어.
