Where’s the restroom?

One of the most useful travel questions. You can drop the particle 이/가 and still be understood. Pronounce it hwa-jang-sil.

Ask in cafés, stations or malls. In some cafés the restroom has a door code, and staff will give you the 비밀번호.

화장실 is the standard word. Avoid the old-fashioned 변소, and don’t mix it up with 화장 (“makeup”).
