Let’s eat together.

Casual speech among friends. ~자 invites someone: “let’s ~.” The polite version is 같이 먹어요.

Invite a friend or a younger person to a meal. 밥 means “rice” and also “meal,” and the -자 ending means “let’s.”

-자 is only for friends and younger people. Polite forms are 밥 먹어요 or 같이 식사해요, and elders get 식사하세요. 밥 한번 먹자 is often vague.
